LA Beer Week Tasting: Part II September 27th
In honor of LA Beer Week, we are bringing some heavy-hitting beers to this week's tasting. A lineup that includes beers from Russian River, The Bruery, Telegraph, Jolly Pumpkin, and Stone won't dissapoint. Here's the flight:
Pliny the Elder - 8%abv (Russian River) - A beer that needs no introduction. Considered by many the world's best Double IPA, brewed by the man who invented the Double IPA. This beer finishes bone dry with citrus and pine notes throughout.
White Oak - 11.5%abv (The Bruery) - Mix a Bourbon barrel aged wheatwine with a Belgium Golden Strong Ale and you get White Oak. This beer comes in at 11.5% and delivers flavors of crisp wheat, caramel, coconut, and vanilla.
Obscura Arborea - 9%abv (Telegraph) - This is Telegraph's take on the Belgium's Oude Bruin, the famous Flander's Sour Brown Ales. We have been cellaring this beer for some time, so added age should make the sourness from the wild yeast stand out.
Special Holiday Ale - 9%abv (Stone/Jolly Pumpkin/Nogne-0) - This winter warmer is brewed with ingredients representing all three breweries of this collaboration. White sage from Stone, juniper berries from Nogne-0, and chestnuts from Jolly Pumpkin. This is a complex, full bodied spiced rye ale.
